Like all councils, our funding from the government is being cut year on year. This means that we have to make changes to what we do, and the services we provide, to ensure that we can continue to provide the services we have to by law. Last year, we announced a series of budget cuts to help us save £2.6m, or almost a quarter of our budget, over two years.
This year, because funding has been cut further, we need to save around £1.4m. We have identified ways to save most of this, including completing last year's savings programme, a one off use of reserves, and securing external income. However, we still need to save a further £180,000, and would like your views on our proposals. You can complete our budget consultation document online, and then email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, you can return your form to any Copeland Borough Council office.
